Mah Jongg Tile Set Description

Tile Set Name: PIRATES.TIL
Subject: Tiles of Tall Ships, Pirates, and Burried Treasure
Created by: Jon Bishop

Description: While playing another version of Mah Jongg (Mah Jongg
for Windows by Ron Balewski) I came across a very colorful set of
Pirate Theme Tiles designed by Dcott W. Woehholz. I was very impressed
with the extremely well detailed tiles, but felt the set lacked the life
and cohesiveness I thought I could give to the theme. Once again, I
was unable to transfer the tiles directly. Here, from scratch, are my
attempts to capture the spirit of the high seas and exotic places in
rectangular pixels and 16 colors. So, . ."Gather round, me buckos!"

On the Deck (replaces the suit of Dots):

1) A stunning three master with running rigging, flying the infamous
Jolly Roger, looking for it's next prey while avoiding the crown's
dreadnoughts.

2 thru 9) You are the boson's mate on duty at the helm (thats the
wheel you steer the ship with), sighting 'round the jib into fair
weather as far as the eye can see.

On the Dock (replaces the suit of Bamboo):

11) The Admiralty Anchor is over the side and about to make its splash
in a peacefull lagoon.

12 thru 19) You were caught napping while on watch in the crow's nest
(when you nodded off you dropped and broke the Captain's favorite
spyglass), so while the Captain os off to bury his treasure you're
left dockside cleaning the anchor and repairing and coiling line.

On the Shore (replaces the suit of Characters):

21) Your Sword at the ready guarantees only you will leave this place
knowing the secret of where the treasure is burried.

22 thru 29) You are atop a grassy cliff (between the stream and Diamond
Rock, under the shade of the only tree to the North of Diamond Rock),
detailing your Burried Treasure Map.

Skulls of the Dead (replace the Dragons):

10) Sneaking extra rations didn't set well with the Captain.
20) Crossed bones by themselves don't say much, so . . .
30) For drinking the last of Captain's Rum, this sailor lost his mind.

The Compass Points through the spy glass (replaces the Four Winds):

31) Icebergs in The North Atlantic
32) Inviting Island in the South Pacific
33) Overcast Sunise in the Indian Ocean off Madagascar
34) Evening Nautical Twilight in the Mediterranean

A view of the South Pacific, from the grassy cliff where, you're
certain, the treasure is burried nearby. The mutiny you and the
first mate were planning got discovered and you were put off the
ship. You know the treasure is burried here somewhere. Enjoy the
changing of the seasons.  You take a break and look to the Southwest;
hoping to spot another ship and get off this island before winter.
Now where could that treasure be burried?

35) Summer 37) Winter
36) Autumn 38) Spring

Treasure Chests (replace the four Blossoms):

39) A Chest of some fancy jewelry and Silver Coins, but mostly Pearls.
40) Lots of gems mounted in pure silver and gold, and some pewter.
41) More pearls, loose gems, pieces of eight and precious metals.
42) Mostly Gold coins, and the largest of the gems set in lavishly
handcrafted jewelry (probably once owned by royalty).
