Kentrol User Notes for Specific Radio Models
				Version 2.4

R-5000

All features are supported.

TS-440S

All features are supported.
Transmit and split operation are supported by registered copies only.

TS-940S

All features are supported.
Transmit and split operation, as well as variable bandwidth tuning, are supported by registered copies only.

Kentrol remembers variable bandwidth tuning settings, so you can switch VBT or high/low cut in and out with a single mouse click.

Kentrol allows access to all 40 memory channels as a single, consecutively numbered bank. Bank 0, channel 00 is memory 00; bank 2, channel 06 is 26; and so on up to 39.

When you choose the Scan: Set Parameters command, all 40 channels are displayed and you can choose ANY combination, regardless of bank.

Kentrol memory set files (*.KTS files) all hold 100 split channels, and when you open them into edit windows you have access to the whole file. But Kentrol automatically ensures that only the first 40 channels are loaded into the radio or read from it. So, if you want to load settings from higher-numbered lines, you will need to copy/paste them to the beginning of the set.

While Kentrol is running in the foreground, the Memory Bank Switch on top of the radio and many front panel controls are disabled. When Kentrol is minimized to its 'Monitor' icon, (and when it exits), Kentrol re-activates the manual controls.

TS-140S/TS-680S

All features are supported for HF operation. Transmit and split operation are supported by registered copies only.

Kentrol adds to the TS-140S the FSK mode that Kenwood left out. When Kentrol indicates that you are in FSK mode (or when you click on the FSK radiobutton to force the mode), the Tuner display on your screen will not match the radio front panel, which will show 'lsb' and a different frequency. If you have chosen to use the rtty Mark frequency (default), the radio will show a frequency 2.11 kHz above the frequency in the Tuner window.

If you have used memories 20-30 to store frequency ranges (Kenwood calls these channels "Programed (sic) Band Markers"), Kentrol will copy those ranges into any vacant User-defined Bands. To take advantage of the additional capabilities of Kentrol's User-defined Bands, go to the Options Menu, select Define..., and save the bands with your choice of tuning step and label text. Now you can use 20-30 as 11 more simplex memory channels and have user-defined bands too.

Kentrol memory set files (*.KTS files) all hold 100 split channels, and when you open them into edit windows you have access to the whole file. But Kentrol automatically ensures that only the first 31 lines are loaded into the radio or read from it. So, if you want to load settings from higher-numbered lines, you will need to copy/paste them to the beginning of the set.

TS-450S/TS-850S/TS-950S

This release of Kentrol auto-detects the TS-850S and provides interim support for most features, including split operation from memories 00-89 in registered copies. Although the 450 and 950 are not currently auto-detected by Kentrol, they are usable. Kentrol simply uses its Default settings, which are based on the 440. Custom interfaces for the '50 series will be added shortly.

VHF/UHF RIGS

Not currently supported. Support for these rigs will be added by early Spring 1992.
