I've been asked more than once, can you boot directly to DOS
instead of going to Windows 95? The answer - yes, you can. Its
not as complicated as it sounds, all you really need is a text
editor to accomplish such a task.

First, you must ask yourself which DOS do you want to boot
under - since Windows offers you a way to boot to your original
DOS. In order to do so, you must edit a file called MSDOS.SYS,
which is located in your root directory (e.g. C:\). But first, you
will need to take MSDOS.SYS's read-only and hidden attributes.
Here's how:

C:

When you shutdown through Windows 95, it'll display two screens, one
tells you that Windows 95 is trying to "prepare" your computer to shutdown
and where it updates and saves its drivers, and another one that tells
you its safe to turn off your computer. These shutdown screens *can*
be changed, though you will need a bitmap editor such as Paint which is
supplied by Windows 95. In your \WINDOWS directory (assuming that
directory is your Windows directory) you will find the two screens under
the names of - LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS. These bitmaps are 320x400.
I would suggest using LView, a complexed graphics viewer and editor,
which can easily resize graphics as easily as turning on your monitor.
LView is available for download at CyberSpace 2000.
