@X0F@MD:GRUNT! Installation Program v1.5

@X0FNOTE: @X0AWHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ IS A COPY FROM THE GRUNT! DOCUMENTATION.
      IT CONTAINS HOW TO INSTALL GRUNT! MANUALLY. ONCE YOU READ THROUGH THIS
      (IF YOU CHOOSE), YOU MAY CONTINUE WITH THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM AND
      INSTALL GRUNT USING THE INSTALL.EXE (THIS PROGRAM).

@@OK!
@CLS
@X0A Before installing GRUNT, it is best to create a GRUNT directory where
   you keep your BBS Doors. Most sysops keep their doors in one particular
   area, and some keep them in many different places. Regardless of this,
   GRUNT must have all of it's files in a separate directory, and it's
   Dungeon Modules must be separated from each other. Since GRUNT! works
   soley on Dungeon Modules through the MC-COMPILER(tm), each Dungeon
   Module must be kept in a separate directory.

@X0F NOTE: For Multiple Dungeon Modules, simply create a new copy of
         CONFIG.DAT and call that configuration file upon running grunt.

   NOTE: For running GRUNT without a BBS (ie. a user wishing to play
         GRUNT! in LOCAL MODE ONLY) follow these directions, however,
         place GRUNT in your \GAMES directory (\GAMES\GRUNT) but follow
         the documentation here. Also refer to section 3.1 of this manual.

@CLS
@X0A Your GRUNT! directory tree on your hard disk should look like this:

@X0F       GRUNT  LOCK
                DUNGEON
                GEN

@X0A The GRUNT directory contains the main executable files, configuration
   files and other necessary information contained within the GRUNT!
   archive (zipfile).

   The LOCK directory is generally left blank. GRUNT! will create a
   NETWORK.SYS file within the LOCK directory. This file contains network
   information concerning nodes playing GRUNT!. You do not need to modify
   or maintain this file, GRUNT! automatically upgrades it every 24hrs.

   The GEN directory contains all welcome files, menus, help files and
   other necessary display files for GRUNT!.

@X0A
   For multiple Dungeon Modules, a GRUNT directory might look like this:
@X0F
       GRUNT  LOCK
                DUNGEON1
                DUNGEON2
                DUNGEON3
                DUNGEON4
                GEN

   The file "CONFIG.DAT" found in your GRUNT directory contains
   information variables that point to where directories are.
@X0F
   NOTE: A program called "INSTALL.EXE" is included with your archive
         (zipfile) of GRUNT. To quickly install GRUNT! with a single
         Dungeon Module atmosphere, unzip the entire contents of the
         archive into the GRUNT directory, and run the INSTALL.EXE from
         within the GRUNT directory. It will automatically create the
         directories "LOCK", "DUNGEON" and "GEN" for you, and unzip the
         archives DUNGEON.EXE and GEN.EXE into their appropriate places.
         The "CONFIG.DAT" file already points to "DUNGEON\", "LOCK\" and
         "GEN\". This is by far the easiest way to configure GRUNT! and
         get it running within a matter of minutes.

@X0A
   Here is a step-by-step setup guide for manual installation:

     1. Make the directory "GRUNT" wherever you wish GRUNT! to reside, on
        whichever hard disk and whichever directory.
     2. Change to the GRUNT directory.
     3. Make a directory called "LOCK" (type MD LOCK and hit ENTER).
     4. Make a directory called "DUNGEON" (type MD DUNGEON and hit ENTER).
     5. Make a directory called "GEN" (type MD GEN and hit ENTER).
     6. Unzip the GEN.ZIP file into the GEN directory (Type PKUNZIP
        GEN.ZIP GEN and press ENTER).
     7. Unzip the DUNG.ZIP file into the DUNGEON directory (Type PKUNZIP
        DUNG.ZIP GEN and press ENTER).
     8. Edit (with ANY text editor) the "CONFIG.DAT" file. This file is
        already configured to use "GEN\", "LOCK\" and "DUNGEON\" as base
        file locations. If you have placed these files somewhere other
        than the defaults, you will need to change the drive letter and
        directory of where GRUNT! can find the files.
@X0F
   NOTE: Again, it is easier to run the "INSTALL.EXE" program from within
         the GRUNT! directory. It will perform steps 1 thru 7 for you
         automatically.
