While CRS Online has carried stock quotation data for over two years,
November 1993 marked a turning point. CRS Online switched to a new service
provider. This provider offered a far more reliable data feed with a greater
amount of information per security. At the same time, CRS Online made
arrangements with the stock exchanges to be able to provide hourly snapshots
while the markets were open. Viewed as a positive move by individuals
interested in tracking their stock portfolios, there are some drawbacks.

While most who read this document will be new to the service, a few
individuals have used CRS Online for years to receive stock quotations and it
is this group which needs to be aware of the drawbacks. There are two: symbol
names between the old provider and the new are different and the method in
which the data is made available to the members has changed. CRS Online will
no longer be providing historical data as files directly available from
PCBoard for downloading. Historical data will only be made available through
the STOCK door. These changes need only be made once and can be viewed more as
a nuisance, than as a drawback.

To access the stock door, a subscriber needs to have purchased the Information
Services Add-On. Once this option has been purchased by the subscriber, he or
she only needs to join conference 39 (JJ 3399) and enter the command SSTTOOCCKKSS to
gain access to the stock data made available through CRS Online.

After entering this command, the following screen will appear:

(983 Min. Left) Main Menu Command? ( )

This is the main menu of the Stock Quotation Service. The stock service
provided by CRS Online is very flexible and offers several options which can
be broken into three areas:

        Configuration,
        Modification of your Stock Portfolio,
        and Viewing/Downloading Stock Data.

CCoonnffiigguurraattiioonn
Configuration of the Stock Door consists of three questions. The
first, Symbol Data Format, allows you to select a 'pre-made' or custom format
to use when transferring data to your local computer. Pre-made formats are
available for MetaStock 5 Field, MetaStock 7 Field, STOCKS.TXT, and our older
Stock Database format. Descriptions of each format are listed below:

MetaStock 5 Field
ticker, per, date, high, low, close, vol
Note: MetaStock Symbols cannot contain white space. The stock
door is aware of this and will change any white space to an
              underscore '_'.

MetaStock 7 Field
ticker, per, date, open, high, low, close, vol, oi
Note: MetaStock Symbols cannot contain white space. The stock
door is aware of this and will change any white space to an
              underscore '_'.

STOCKS.TXT (File format used by CRS Online's previous Stock System)
"ticker", exchg, close, high, low, vol

STOCKS Database (File format used by CRS Online's previous Stock Door)
        "ticker", close, high, low, vol

Legend:

ticker The ticker symbol of the security. Max Length: 12 characters.
per Periodicity of the data. While MetaStock allows <D>aily,
<W>eekly, or <M>onthly updates, data made available through
CRS Online will always use a <D>.
date The Date the symbol data was captured by CRS Online.
open Open price for this date.
high High price for this date.
low Low price for this date.
close Last trade price for this date.
        vol Volume traded.
exchg Exchange Symbol (i.e. TSE = Toronto Stock Exchange)
                Max. Length: 4 characters.
oi Open Interest. This field is set to 0 when downloading
                Equity data from CRS Online.
"xxx" denotes Quotation marks around the field.

Custom File Formats
Allows any field(s) listed below to be used in the creation of a stock data
file:

        1) Symbol Name (12 Characters)
        2) Exchange Name 9) Day of the Month 16) Time
        3) Open 10) Last Trade 17) Yield
        4) High 11) Bid Price 18) P/E Ratio
        5) Low 12) Ask Price 19) Earnings
        6) Previous Close 13) Bid Size 20) Dividend
        7) Volume 14) Ask Size 21) Shares
        8) Symbol Type 15) Year High 22) Year Low

As each field is added, you are asked if you wish to remove any additional
white space and/or add single (''), double ("") quotation marks.

Should files be compressed using PKzip? (Y)
After selecting a format to use when downloading symbol data, you are
asked if you wish to compress the file using PKZIP version 1.10. This option
should be turned on by any user connecting to CRS Online via a low speed
modem.

Should symbols with NO data be included in the file? (N)
Use of this option will allow symbols with no trading data to be
removed or skipped when downloading or viewing symbol data.

Canadian Security Symbols can be from one to three characters in length, with
the exception of COATS which is always four characters in length. A prefix is
used before the root name of the symbol to show which market the security is
traded. Prefixes for Canadian Securities are listed below:

U.S. security symbols can have one to six characters. One or two of the
characters may be special brokerage codes used to identify stocks with

available on the NYSE and the TSE, only two entries need to be placed inside

To obtain a copy of the list of the securities CRS Online tracks, use option
'CC' from the main menu. This file contains two fields per security per line.
The first field is the name CRS Online uses for the security, the second field
is the ADP symbol name.

If you wish to add a security to your portfolio, select option 'SS' from the
main menu. Your portfolio will be displayed on the screen followed by:

Name of the Symbol to Add/Delete/Modify (Enter=QUIT)? ( )

Enter the name of the security you wish to add or delete. If the symbol
currently exists within your portfolio, you'll be asked if you wish to delete
it. If the symbol does not exist, a list of symbols that best match the
symbol name will be displayed. You may enter one of these symbols or re-enter
the same symbol name again to force the addition of the symbol to your
portfolio. That's all there is to modifying your portfolio.

(981 Min. Left) View Command? ( )

Option one can be used to view today's stock data. While the markets are
open, hourly updates will be made available and this option can be used to
view the data.

Option two can be used to view historical stock data. This data will be
closing market data. Historical data starts from November 23rd, 1993 and will
go forward until two years of data are available through the stock system.
Files older than two years will automatically be purged by the system.

Use option three and four to view a single symbol at a time without having to
add it to your portfolio. A browse function is available for individuals who
are not 100 percent sure of a symbol's name.

The fifth option will show Market Indices for Canadian exchanges. Open, High,
Low, PClose, and Volume are the only fields that should be considered valid
for market indices.

No matter which option you select, all will display the collection
date and time of the data you are about to view.

Two modes are available for viewing data online: Short or Long.
Viewing stock data in the short format will display only six of the 22 fields
tracked per symbol. Those fields are listed below along with a sample of the
output provided:

Symbol Open High Low LTrade Volume
ND.MSFT 78.500 80.500 78.250 80.250 1101900

Short mode is useful for displaying a large quantity of symbols, since each
symbol only requires one line to be shown.

Long mode has merit when you are contemplating adding a symbol to your
portfolio. A sample of a symbol displayed in long format follows:

These options work in an identical fashion to the ones available for viewing
data online except files are prepared for downloading instead of being
displayed on your monitor. The time it takes to prepare the file depends on
how many symbols your portfolio tracks. If you wish to download every symbol
CRS Online tracks, please be prepared to wait up to 10 minutes. What follows
is a sample of the process used to download a stock file:
