This Support file contains a DOOM/HERETIC laucnch terminal which you MUST
use to play DOOM I, DOOM II, or HERETIC in the "GAME CONNECTION".
SIRDOOM.ZIP file and copy them into your DOOM/HERETIC directory(s).
Or you may put the sirdoom files in a seperate dir

For MULTI-PLAYER DOOM/HERETIC MATCH you will need a 14400 or faster modem!

1. Unzip the SIRDOOM.ZIP file!
Copy them all into a seperate directory (SIRDOOM)

2. Change to the SIRDOOM directory and Type SIRDOOM.EXE This will put
   you in the terminal MODE

3. HIT ALT-C to configure your game choice and modem setings. All future
game settings can be configured ON-LINE without EXITING the BBS!!!
CONFIGURE the SIRDOOM.CFG file by inserting the CORRECT modem string!
(ERROR CORRECTION and DATA COMPRESSION MUST BE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leave HARDWARE FLOW CONTROL(RTS/CTS) ON! Look in your modem book for the
commands if you do not know or E-Mail the sysop for help.)

4. Hit ALT-I to initialize the modem string. {DO NOT FORGET THIS!}
you should see ok under the init string for your modem

5. Hit ALT-D and return to dial our BBS PH#. 603- 788-2213
IF your modem does not dial-out than your modem is not set to the
COM PORT sirdoom is looking for/ setup your modem again in sirdoom
alt c to bring up the screen
   2. Change the PORT:X setting in the SIRDOOM.CFG file again! this wiil
be done for you by the setup modem settings you enter

6. After logging in select (G) at main menu to go to GAME CONNECTION area.
Here you will join a multi-player game from the game menu
selection. Pick (M) for ENTER . Pick a channel #. Select your
game and pick either #10 (DOOM MODE) or #11 (HERETIC MODE)!

Whoever gets in the GAMERS (teleconference) room first becomes the
MODERATOR. You will be told if you are MODERATOR and will have extra
control over that game. The guy with a fast machine should be the
moderator. <fast = 486/66 with the most meg of ram. If pentium is in the
game and has less memory than the 486/66 the 66 should be the moderator
since all data will be handled thru this machine and the extra memory
   makes this task easier.

Meet and talk with your opponent(s) in this room. It is like a
tele-conference room. Check and make sure all have the same args in and
ready BEFORE you do /start then alt s .When you see that all payers have
been found hit enter. DO NOT BE IN A HURRY as mistakes will abort the game
,hang people up, and be basically a pain in the ass. If you have a slow
machine in the game <486/33> wait a little bit for it to load <this can
take up to 70-80 seconds> when you hear the music if your screen stays
black for another 30 seconds the game is not going to happen.Abort the
game.. This problem will not always be the slowest machine. Eliminate
machines one at a time to see if trial and error will find the problem.
Alot of 486/33's can and do make it into games so don't point your finger
   to quick.

The MODERATOR (ONLY) will then type /START and {RETURN} AND THEN HIT
ALT-S to begin the game. When ALL players have been found (you will be
notified) the MODERATOR will hit ENTER to begin the game.

Do not be discouraged if you do not get into a game immediatly /4 player doom
takes a little bit of tweaking on your side of it to get you all setup pro
perly. most problems with getting into games comes from players haveing
different settings on there args string .

For OTHER games you can dial-in from within that Game's Directory
terminal. Some you have to Pre-Dial. There is a table at end of BBSUSER
.DOC file and in SIRGCONN.DOC file showing the recommended dial methods/
and baud rates for EACH GAME. ALL these files are found in the SUPPORT.ZIP
file in the MAIN and GAMES libraries. If you Pre-dial using Qmodem,
Procomm, or any other comm. program you will have to exit that comm
program and call back in sirdoom or sirdescent.

ALL Players must be running the SAME version of their respective games.
All games will only run as smooth/fast as the slowest modem and/or comput-
er. We at the MODEM GAMELINK MULTI-PLAYERS CONNECTION BBS act only as
a "switchboard" for the Multi-Player portion of this BBS. So any
problems will usually be the result of the end (terminal) USERS!
If you have any problems address them to the Sysop via E-Mail from main
   menu.

   THANKS
  CHUCK AND JOHN

P.S IF you have a NS16550A and it does not recognize it or says your
FIFO'S are defective (and they are not) add UART: FIFO to the
first line of your SIRDOOM.CFG file. Make sure you HIT ALT-I
to init the modem string, before you dial-in!

THIS FILE WILL BE UPDATED AS WE GET MORE AND BETTER INFO
