SECTION 2 - PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Calendar - a popup calendar to quickly view a past or future date. Clicking on a date will copy the date, if you want, to the clipboard (ei. Friday, August 08, 1997 03:35 PM). Doubleclicking on a date will change the computer's date.

Conversion Tables - Conversion Tables will convert the following 6 measurements... Area, Distance, Temperature, Time, Volume and Weight. You can also type in a date to find out the difference in days between your date and today.

CountDown - CountDown will count down the time to 0:00, then plays a Wave file of your choice. Just set the time and click on the Start icon. There are 2 CountDown timers and a CountUp timer for timing things in a positive manner.

Reminders - Reminders will check upcoming reminders for the next 7 days. Reminders can be once, weekly, monthly or yearly. You can have it run automatically when you start Desktop Goodies or you can have it start up at the same time every day (in case you never shut off you computer). You can even have the number of years elapsed shown, which is great for anniversaries or birthdays.

Sticky Notes - a 10 page notepad for jotting down quick notes, messages or ideas. Rapid-save allows you to type and close. There is no opening, finding or saving files. Just type and close. Click on a different tab and the previous tab automatically saves. Not to be used as an alternative to a big word processor, but excellent for quick and small notes.

Startup List - keep track of the date and time that your computer starts up by putting a shortcut in the startup folder. You can do this during installation.

Other Programs - new to the Desktop Goodies menu is the ability to start the Windows calculator and your screen saver. You can also add up to 5 of your favorite programs to this menu.

SECTION 3 - INSTALLATION

Step 1: Desktop Goodies is a pure Windows 95 program. It installs and uninstalls through Windows 95. To install, run SETUP.EXE. If you get a message for Setup to update older system files, then go to step 2. If you do not get this message, then go to step 3.

Step 2: If your computer contains older system files, Setup will update these files. You will then be prompted to re-boot your computer. Do this and then run setup again.

Step 3: Now that we know that you have the up-to-date files on your computer, you can now select the directory that you want to install Desktop goodies into, as well as the group that will contain the shortcuts to start up the program. You will then be asked if you would like a shortcut put in the Startup folder. Select YES to get all of the additional advantages of the program. If you plan on using this program occasionally, you may want to select NO. After installation is complete, you may go to the group that you chose for Desktop Goodies and then click on the Desktop Goodies icon to start it up. If at any time you wish to uninstall the program, go to step 4.

Step 4: For uninstalling Desktop Goodies only.
Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Rev Programs, then select Desktop Goodies Shareware. Click on the Add/Remove button. Desktop Goodies will then uninstall itself.
