                      IS THIS AN UNTAMPERED FILE?

This ASCII-file version of ShareDebate International
was packaged by Applied Foresight, Inc. (AFI
hereafter). Every AFI-packaged ASCII version of
ShareDebate International is distributed in either an
"-AV protected" ZIP file format or a SDN (Shareware
        Distributors Network) protected SDN file.

"AV" is the authenticity verification feature provided
to registered PKZIP users, which Applied Foresight,
Inc., is. If you are using the MS-DOS PKUNZIP.EXE
program written by PKWARE Inc. and do not see the "-AV"
message after every file is unzipped AND receive the
message "Authentic files Verified! #JAA646 Applied
Foresight Inc." when you unzip this file then do not
trust it's integrity. If your version of PKUNZIP is not
the PKWARE-authored program (for instance, you are
running a non-MS-DOS version), then this message may
not be displayed. (Note: version 2.04g of PKZIP was
used to create this authentication message.)

SDN is the major distributor of Shareware and
Copyrighted Freeware and users who extract files from
an SDN file with the current version of the archive
        utility ARJ, should see:

               *** Valid ARJ-SECURITY envelope signature:
               *** SDN International(sm) SDN#01 R#2417

This file is an SDN International(sm) Author-Direct
Distribution. It should be verified for the SDN
Security Seal by the FileTest utility available at The
          SDN Project AuthorLine BBS 203-634-0370.

(Note: prior to about May, 1993, SDN used PAK to
archive its distributions and its authenticity message
        differs from the above.)

Trust only genuine AFI-packaged archives ... anything
else may be just that: ANYTHING ELSE.

                        From the Editor's Desk:
                        -----------------------

             Hello again!

ShareDebate International has it's own set of Web
Pages. Check out this URL location:

                  http://www.xmission.com/~gastown/afi

The symbol after "com/" is a tilde (~), found
usually in the top left hand corner of your keyboard, and
it takes depressing the shift key while holding down that
        key.

You can ftp-download about half of all of the
existing back issues of ShareDebate International (the
others you can order by mail). You can ftp-download all
back issues of Imprimis Online, which Applied Foresight
has been electronically packaging and distributing for
the last 2.5 years, from 1992 through mid-1995. There is
a web pointer to Hillsdale College's web pages and
        Imprimis Online sub-page:

        http://www.telusys.com/imprimis/imprimis.html
        http://www.telusys.com/imprimis/0695.imprimis/imprimis.html

This is a short issue with two new topics covered:

             * The current state of Cold Fusion research.

             * The case against the Birth Control Pill and the
               safety/effectiveness case for Natural Family
               Planning.

In addition, to get you ready for the last issue
of this year, I urge all readers who are interested in
multi-player Chess game (3 or 4 player chess), or who
are interested in Chinese or Korean Chess, to get the
free word processor viewer for Microsoft Word that
Microsoft distributes. If you have Microsoft Word, you
obviously do not need it. If you don't, then check
out the enclosed Microsoft instructions for obtaining
the viewer. You also need -- it's stated in the
documentation -- to update your Windows to having the
latest OLE support. The information that follows
explains how to get that file too. I'm working on a
book that will be published and do not intend to take
significant time out to reformat it for the Web. It
contains many graphic illustrations and it's best to
view it through a word processor or viewer for one.

The actual Web location for the two free Microsoft
Word Viewer pages (one for Windows 3.1 and for Windows
        95) are:

        http://www.microsoft.com/msoffice
                  /freestuf/msword/download/viewers/default.htm
        http://www.microsoft.com/msoffice
           /freestuf/msword/download/viewers/viewer6/default.htm

In this issue, several files appear twice: once
with a TXT extension, and once with a HTM extension.
The HTM version is for browsing/viewing with your Web
browser. The TXT version is for use with any ASCII
file viewer (you can use WRITE in Windows--just answer
"N" when Write ask you to convert the file; also don't
save the file when you exit WRITE). A nice thing about
having the ASCII version is that you can nicely print
it out with the multitude of file-printing programs
available and mentioned in previous issues of
        ShareDebate International.

I've also made it possible for you to use Netscape
or any Web browser to read any of the text files in
this and future issues of ShareDebate International or
Imprimis Online. You'll see this as the first and last
line of each file therefore if you use a plain file
        reader:
                #<PRE>
                #</PRE>
Those are HTML codes to treat the file as a pre-
        formatted file.

                        Great Web Pages to Visit:
                        -------------------------

The following are great, very interesting web pages
to visit. They extend the debate topics covered in
        the past in ShareDebate International:

        Shroud of Turin Home Page
        http://www.cais.com/npacheco/shroud/turin.html

Current Scientific Research on the Shroud of Turin
        http://www.cais.com/npacheco/shroud/curres.html

Many of you, like myself, probably think that the
Shroud was proven phony in 1987 by Carbon 14 dating.
Yet, this page covers evidence that all that dating
proved was that there was a fire in the 15th century
that chemically impregnated the Shroud with carbon
particles that date back to the 15th century. There
is extensive scientific evidence to still consider
the Shroud dating back to the time of Christ. Check
        out the controversy!

        Digital Politics 101:
Is there a new political paradigm lurking in cyberspace?
        by Jay Kinney
        http://www.well.com/user/jay/Dig101.html

A shorter version of this lengthy web page appears in
        WIRED magazine. Quite interesting!

I'm sure you'll enjoy this issue!

                                  ###

        +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

                           MAGAZINE CONTENTS

Because this issue is quite long, the individual
entries are not all collapsed into this file. That way
readers on non-MSDOS computers who don't have an ASCII
file reader that can read in massively large files can
read this issue -- all files are tried to be kept under
50KB apiece. Also all readers can quickly "jump" to
the pieces that most interest them. This makes
printing out what interests a person most convenient
and avoids wasting paper and time. I hope you like
        this arrangement.

If you do not have a MS-DOS computer, then only the
"TXT" type files might be of interest to you. The other
three types of files are "S/W" (Software), "GPH" (Graphic
Image file), and "HTM" for a HTML-coded file that is
best viewed by a Web Browser, such as Netscape or Mosaic.
You can browse/view the TXT files with a Web Browser too.
