Pager option:
(also see add record and main window)
After installation double click on the Caller IDS Icon. From the pull down menu 'Config' select
pager option. The first entry will be your global(default pager number to be assigned to all records) pager number. Enter your pager number, including area code i.e.: 3015551212. Next enter an origin identifier, valid range 00-99. This number will be added to the end of the page, so the person paged will know where the number originated. Next enter a out of area number to send. This will identify to the paged person, that the incoming call was out of area. Valid entry range is 0-999999. Select dial page delay. This is the time delay between the incoming call and the outgoing page. Select a pause time, valid range 1-5. this is the time delay between completion of dialing the pager number and sending the pager data. (Each digit represents a 2 sec pause). Select enable global pager option, to activate the pager feature. Select the page on out of area calls, if you wish to be paged for out of area calls. Select send origin data, if you would like for the origin data to be sent. Select the comm port that a modem is connected to. Select close.

-Interface type
From the pull down menu 'Config' select interface type, then click the circle for the type of interface you are using. If you are using the Zoom, Supra or practical caller-id compatible modem, you must enable the caller-id feature on the modem. Most modems use the AT command string
"AT#CID=1". If you set up your modem to default to this feature enabled, you won't have to send this command every time you turn on your modem. Check the manufacturers manual that came with your modem for setting up these features. You must have your modem turned on before starting the Called-ids program. This is because the Caller-ids program, when it loads, opens the comm port and sends an AT command to the modem at 9600 baud. If your modem is not turned on, you will get a error message that your modem is not responding. If you have name delivery service from the telephone Co, check the box for name delivery service. Then click OK. Then select the comm. port that is being used for called-id. Click on the save button. You should get a "PORT OK". If you dont check your hardware and Windows software for correct comm port addressing, and interrupt settings. Once you get a "PORT OK" after clicking the save button, then click on the OK button. The program will automatically restart to load your selections. If you are using a Zoom, Supra or Practical modem, your modem must be on before restarting the program.

-Select Interface Port
Use this option if while you are using Caller-ids, you for any reason change your interface to another comm port.
From the pull down menu 'Config' select "Select Interface Port". Then select the comm. port that is now being used for called-id. Click on the save button. You should get a "PORT OK". If you dont check your hardware and Windows software for correct comm port addressing, and interrupt settings. Once you get a "PORT OK" after clicking the save button, then click on the OK button. The program will automatically restart to load your selection.

-Select Remote Terminal Port
"Important" If you are not using a remote terminal, Select not installed or you will receive comm errors while running Caller-ids.
From the pull down menu 'Config' select "Select Remote Terminal Port". Select the comm port your remote terminal is connected to. Click on the save button. You should get a "PORT OK". If you dont check your hardware and Windows software for correct comm port addressing, and interrupt settings. Once you get a "PORT OK" after clicking the save button, then click on the OK button. The program will automatically restart to load your selection.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

- If a 'Device not available' error occurs, the program will shut down. this is due to a conflict with comm. port usage. reload the program then disable the 'Remote terminal' under the 'Settings' menu.

- For Norton Desk Top Users, the first time you load this program you may get a DDE error. Simply click on continue. This message will not recur again unless you re-install this program.

- If your call is not being received by caller ids, close the program and open Windows Terminal communications program. Select from the settings menu, communications. Select the baud rate. (Zoom, Supra, practical = 9600. All other interfaces = 1200.) Select Data bits = 8, Stop bits = 1, Parity = None, Flow control = Xon/Xoff. Select the comm port your Called-ids device is on and click on OK. While you are in the terminal mode, have somebody call you that is in your calling area. After the first ring, but before the second a string of data consisting of date, time, number and name (if you have name service) will display across your screen. This test will verify your hardware and windows software settings are correct.

- There are two areas to look at in the maximized caller-id main window to see if there is any data coming from your selected comm. port. The first, look at the caller-id icon. The red circle will fill solid if the program is receiving data. The second is down at the bottom left, were it says incoming data.. Here is where the raw data will be displayed if it is being received. If neither of the above happen when you receive a call, check all you hardware and software setups to make sure you have the proper configurations, I.E.: comm. port, interface, interrupts ETC...
