8-17-94[s8]                      Pause in dialing

The S8 register sets the pause time for the ',' when you are dialing.
Default is S8=2. If you are dialing a long sequence and use a lot of
commas, you may find the string too long to dial (must be under 40 chars,
including ATDT and the carraige return at the end). 1st remove all '-' and
any spaces too, between numbers and commands. Change 1-617-423-9231 to
16174239231. If the string is still too long change register S8. S8=4, or
S8=8 (etc) means you need fewer commas. Whatever S8= is the time the modem
will pause for each comma. Put the command in the init string. Also,
remove any extra commands form the dial prefix, like X1, ATX1DT, put the X1
in the init instead.
     Suppose you need to dial 800 #, tel # and code. If you set S8=8 (8
seconds pause)
     1800xxxXXXX,,1XXXxxxXXXX,code (notice no dashes or spaces).

Another  option is to put the ';' at the end of the number.  1617-423-9231;
So you'll get (when you dial) ATDT1617-423-9231; This puts the modem
back into command mode, so you can dial a second number or string.
