3-2-95 Prodigy AOL

(Is the modem working with regular Telecom Software? This assumes you
HAVE tried it and it does work.)

If you are using Prodigy or America OnLine with a high speed modem
then try putting &q6 into the string. You do NOT want to have a DT at the
end (&q6DT ), you should try with an AT as the prefix ( AT&q6 ). If this
still doesn't work, on the 9600 line use &q0s37=9n0 or on the 2400
line &q0s37=6n0 which causes a 'direct' connect rather than using
buffering in the modem. Try setting 19,200 for high speed, or use the &Q0
and set 9600. Use RTS/CTS or Hardware flow control.

 Here's strings to try. AT&F&Q6&K0E0 AT&F&C1&D2&Q6&K0E0 AT&F&C1&D2
AOL uses the ^M at the end of the string for a carraige return.

If you are unsure if you are connecting, then try calling the local
Prodigy/AOL number from terminal mode of a regular telecom program (like
Telix, Procomm, MTEZ, Comit, Bitcom etc). Then you will SEE a 'CONNECT'
message if you do connect. This will eliminate a modem problem, perhaps the
Prodigy you have has an fault in it. Type AD&Q6DTnumber to test, or
insert the other strings above before the DT.
