7-25-94 Setting Parity Stop Bits

The setting for Parity & modem Speed is set in S register 23 of the
modem. But YOU cannot set them. You set it in the software, and when you
type AT it automatically sets the modem and that register. So even if you
were to set the bits in the register, the next AT command will re-set that
register to whatever parity/speed the software is set.

Bits (word length) and Stop bit are also set in software, and must
match the software on the other end. The most common combination is 8,N,1
and much less but common is 7,E,1. (Bit, Parity, Stop). Any other
combination is rare and may require special software.
