TITLE: Changing the Date Format (Enhancement)
PRODUCT: WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS

Enhancement
You can store the date format as a code in individual documents
rather than as a system default. This enhancement allows you to
use several date and time formats within the same document. It
also allows you spell out dates (such as June 20, 1995) and
abbreviate dates with numbers (such as 6/20/95) within the same
document.

Concept
Date formats are much more flexible in WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS
than in previous versions of WordPerfect. You have several new
options for editing date formats to fit your needs.

Normally, WordPerfect inserts the date as month, day, year (June
20, 1995). WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS allows you to modify the date
to fit your needs. When the date format is changed, a code is
inserted into the document. When you insert date text or codes
after the date format change, the new text and codes will use the
new format. You are not limited in the ways you can change the
date.

How Do I Use It?
To change the date format,

1 Choose Date from the Tools menu, or press Date (Shift+F5).

2 Choose Date Format (3).

The Date Formats dialog box appears. Twelve options for
displaying the time and date appear.

3 Choose the number next to the date format you want to use.

4 Choose OK twice to return to the document editing screen.

If the format you want to use is not displayed in the Date
Formats dialog box, you can create your own date format.

1 Choose Date from the Tools menu, or press Date (Shift+F5).

2 Choose Date Format (3), then choose Edit (E).

3 Use the Date Codes (F5) and the Time Codes (Shift+F5) to
create your own date format code. Scroll through each of
the lists to find the codes you want to use. Be sure to
delete any unwanted codes from the Edit line. As you change
the date, the Date Preview line at the top of the dialog box
will display the result of the changes you have made.

4 Press Enter when you are finished editing the date format.
Choose OK two more times to return to the document editing
     screen.
