SUBJECT:	Printers Troubleshooting Guide
 
TROUBLESHOOTING
1.	Check Printer selection. 
2.	Check Print Preview.
3.	Print job as graphics.
4.	Try it from a blank screen.
5.	Duplicate the problem on your machine, if possible.
6.	If memory issue, try switching to Text mode.
7.	Turn printer off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on and try again. 
8.	Exit WP, come back in and try again.
9.	Try Standard Printer. 
10.	Check PRHELP (Helps and Hints, Dip Switch Settings, and Comments). 
11.	Check Folio (Search on Printer name and problem keyword) and STR-ARC.
12.	Rename and reselect the .PRS file.  If this works, write an STR and 
        have the customer send in the renamed file and the document.
13.	If trying to print color make sure color option is marked.
14.	Run vanilla. 
15.	If screen font not printing, check to see if file is available.
16.	Rename DRS, reinstall DRS, reinstall screen fonts.
17.	Print the file to disk and copy it to the printer using the command:
	COPY/B FILENAME PORT. 
18.	Soft Fonts: Do they download?  Have you tried marking them with a 
        "+"?  Have you checked the Font test printout on the printer?  Check 
         path for downloadable fonts.
19.	Try using another font.
20.	Check Reveal Codes.

NOTE: (IF APPLICABLE)  If the customer is having a problem in the 
International version of the product, try having him/her duplicate the 
problem in the latest US version of the product.  If you can duplicate the 
problem in the US version, put the US date as the date of the product when 
writing an STR.

If the printer does not respond at all, try these additional steps.
1.	Print from DOS.
2.	Check cable and try another one, if available.
3.	Check port selection.
4.	Check Printer Control.
5.	If PostScript printer copy EHANDLER.PS and resend print job.

REQUIRED INFORMATION FOR AN STR
1.	Results of all the above troubleshooting steps.
2.	List the fonts that are used, including Manufacturer, Typeface, 
        Size, and Symbol Set. (i.e., Bitstream Swiss 8pt (PC8)).
3.	List how the fonts are marked and the path for downloadable fonts, 
        and screen fonts.
4.	Include all hardware information.

MATERIALS TO BE SENT IN WITH AN STR
1.	A file that duplicates the problem.
2.	A print to disk of that same file. 
3.	A printout of that file.
4.	Soft Fonts: Include *.ALL, *.PRS, *.DRS file, and soft fonts if 
        they are not available to us.
5.	*.LAB if using labels.

SUGGESTED FOLIO KEYWORDS:  print*, "view document", --name of printer--, 
--name of feature being used--.
