WORDPERFECT CORPORATION AND OPTUS SOFTWARE COOPERATE
TO PROVIDE NETWORK FAX SOLUTION

FaxBios support in WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS and Optus FACsys
simplifies use of LAN communications resources

OREM, Utah -- May 24, 1993 -- WordPerfect Corporation has
announced that WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS, scheduled to ship June
28, will include support for the innovative FaxBios
specification, giving users easy access to network fax resources
from within WordPerfect. Optus Software, a key member of the
group that developed FaxBios and a leading vendor of fax server
software for NetWare LANS, currently supports FaxBios in its
award-winning FACSys Product.

"Millions of people use WordPerfect every day to generate faxes,
so the introduction of FaxBios will significantly enhance our
users' ability to quickly and easily take advantage of PC-fax
transmission from their network desktops," said Richard Holder,
technical product manager for data and fax at WordPerfect
Corporation.

"We have worked closely with WordPerfect Corporation to make fax
a transparent and easily-accessible service," said Joseph
Avellino, president of Optus. "WordPerfect Corporation
understands that successful desktop applications must provide
full connectivity not only with the network itself, but also with
the communications services that users have installed on the
network."

Avellino said that FACSys is unique among fax server solutions
because of its tight integration with NetWare and its support for
a broad range of hardware, software and carrier services.

By using WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS and fax servers that support
FaxBios, users can take full advantage of fax communications
facilities. Fax phone books, fax logs and fax scheduling
capabilities provided by the fax server can all be accessed from
within the application, simplifying the use of sophisticated fax
features. FaxBios support also provides printer
protocol-independence at the workstation because it includes its
own facilities for the exchange and compression of formatted,
bitmapped documents. These facilities also allow users to view
and import incoming faxes received through a FACSys fax server
(from within WordPerfect).

Information regarding FaxBios is available on CompuServe (go
faxbios) or by sending a fax request to (801) 222-3991. Technical
specifications can be obtained by contacting WordPerfect
Corporation (800) 321-4566.

Optus Software's FACSys gives NetWare users the ability to send
and receive faxes at their PCs with both DOS and Windows,
providing seamless integration with underlying NOS services and
Novell's MHS. It includes a host of value-added features,
including automatic inbound routing to users or departments,
simplified file attachments, and group messaging. FACSys retails
for $995 per fileserver or $2,495 for a multiple
fileserver/single fax server license and is available through
select dealers and distributors worldwide.

WordPerfect 6.0 for DOS is the first upgrade to the world's best-
selling word processor, WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS. Version 6.0 is

product. Some new features include: built-in spreadsheet
functionality, WYSIWYG editing, scalable font support, fax, sound
and e-mail capabilities, selectable merge, color printing, drag-
and-drop text and graphics, QuickFinder and enhanced macro
capabilities. Contributing to ease of use are pull-down menus,
