WINVIEW: Monitors Messages (Enhanced Version of Spy)

THIS TOOL IS NOT SUPPORTED BY MICROSOFT CORPORATION. IT IS
PROVIDED "AS IS" BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IT MAY BE USEFUL TO
YOU. WE REGRET THAT MICROSOFT IS UNABLE TO SUPPORT OR
ASSIST YOU, SHOULD YOU HAVE PROBLEMS USING THIS TOOL.

WINVIEW contains all of the functionality of the original
Spy utility, plus the following enhancements:

 > Extra window-browsing options, including all child
windows, all parent windows, and all windows with the same
 hInstance.

 > Extra filtering options, including exclude range,
 include range, new Microsoft(R) Windows(TM) version 3.1
 messages, and WM_USER messages.

 > The ability to add textual descriptions to your custom
WM_USER messages. For example, instead of viewing
 WM_USER+5, you can view WM_MYMESSAGE.

 > Non-intrusive message capturing. This means that you
can spy on any window in the system, including WINVIEW's
own windows. You will not go into an infinite loop because
the process of capturing and reporting messages does not
 generate other messages.

 > The ability to spy on hidden windows.

WINVIEW also provides a window browser that lets you view
all of the information associated with a window, including
window styles, client and window rectangles, hInstance,
hModule, class information (WNDCLASS), parent, owner, next
sibling, and previous sibling in the Z order, and
children. WINVIEW presents this information in a
hierarchical view similiar to File Manager, with each
 window represented by a folder.

For more information on monitoring messages, see the
chapter on Spy in the Microsoft Windows version 3.1
Software Development Kit (SDK) "Programming Tools" manual.

WINVIEW was built and tested under Microsoft Windows
 version 3.1.
