PRESIDENT CLINTON NOMINATES JULIE BELAGA TO EXPORT-IMPORT BANK

     The President today announced his intention to nominate 
Julie Belaga as a member of the Board of Directors of the Export-
Import Bank of the United States.

     "Julie Belaga's impressive range of public and private 
sector experience, particularly in the area of the environment, 
will be a valuable addition to the Export-Import Bank Board," 
said the President.

     As a member of the Export-Import Bank, Ms. Belaga would be 
responsible for carrying out the Bank's new initiatives to 
promote the export of environmentally beneficial U.S. goods and 
services.

     Belaga is currently the Senior Vice President for Makovsky & 
Company, a New York City public relations firm, where she created 
an environmental services division.  She also serves as a member 
of the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Development 
Authority; and on the Advisory Board of the Connecticut 
Environmental Industries Initiative.  From 1989-1993, she was 
Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection 
Agency for the New England Region.  

     Belaga worked as a television news analyst and was a 
lecturer on public policy at Harvard University's Kennedy 
Graduate School of Government from 1987-1989.  She was a member 
of the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1976-1986.

     Belaga holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse 
University.  She is married and has three children.
