	  PRESIDENT CLINTON NOMINATES FAITH S. HOCHBERG AS U.S. 
		 ATTORNEY FOR THE DISTRICT OF NEW JERSEY

     The President today nominated Faith S. Hochberg as the United
States Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

     "Faith Hochberg's legal skills and dedication to law enforcement
make her an excellent candidate for this position and will serve the
state of New Jersey well," the President said.

     Currently, Ms. Hochberg is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the
Treasury for Law Enforcement, responsible for policy and oversight of
the Treasury's law enforcement bureaus, including the United States
Secret Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the
United States Customs Service.  Prior to taking that position, she was
the Senior Deputy Chief Counsel at the United States Treasury
Department, Office of Thrift Supervision.  She had been a litigation
partner in the firm of Cole, Schotz, Bernstein, Meisel and Forman.  She
also headed the securities and fraud section of the United States
Attorney's Office in the District of New Jersey.

     Ms. Hochberg graduated summa cum laude with a B.A.  in Economics
from Tufts University in 1972 and magna cum laude with a J.D. from
Harvard Law School.
