      PRESIDENT CLINTON NOMINATES RHONDA REID WINSTON AS D.C. 
			SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE

     The President has nominated Rhonda Reid Winston to serve on
the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

     "Rhonda Winston's solid legal background and dedication to
justice will be a great asset to the D.C.  Superior Court and the
Nation's Capital," the President said.

     Since 1991, Ms. Winston, 39, has served as the Deputy Director
of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.
Previously, she was the Deputy Director of the District of Columbia
Pretrial Services Agency.  She has also worked as a Trial Attorney
for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Visiting
Assistant Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, Staff
Attorney for the Public Defender Service, and Assistant District
Attorney for New York County, New York.

     Ms. Winston received a B.A. degree from Duke University and a
J.D. degree from the Duke University Law School.  She resides in
Washington, D.C.
