1. Summary
The Radiance voice processing card is a low-cost interactive voice
processor designed to interface directly to FoxPro/2 applications.

2. Execution
There are four modules which control the telephone / voice connection:
        ANSWER.BIN
        HANGUP.BIN
        PLAY.BIN
        DTMF.BIN

Each of these modules is loaded with the LOAD command from within FoxPro.

ANSWER.BIN takes the phone off hook.

HANGUP.BIN places the phone on hook.

PLAY.BIN plays a sequence of bytes from a string in to the phone line

DTMF.BIN checks for the presence of a DTMF digit being dialed

In addition, RECORD.EXE is included to record voice messages for later
playback using the PLAY.BIN routine.

The following .PRGs are included to demonstrate the usage of each module

        CAPTURE.PRG
        PLAY.PRG
        DTMF.PRG

3. Modem modification
In the schematic, you will see two points which refer to the connection
of the voice card to the telephone interconnect. These are

VOICE OUT - output of the voice signal to the telephone
DTMF IN - input of the telephone signal to the DTMF decoder

The VOICE OUT connection should be connected to the modem side of the
isolation transformer on the modem. Typically, the telephone side
has two connections and is located closer to the telephone jack. The
modem side of the transformer generally faces away from the telelphone
jack on the modem and has only one connection, which usually can be
traced directly to the modem chip.

The DTMF IN connection can be taken directly from the speaker connection
on the modem. Solder one wire from the speaker output of the modem to
the DTMF input. Solder a second wire from the other speaker connection
(usually the ground plane) to the ground on the voice card.

Additionally, if you want record voice off the telephone line, you could
connect the DTMF input to the VOICE IN. I have not tried this, nor have
I written any FoxPro/2 routines to do this, but it is certainly possible.

4. Voice input
In the schematic, an input called VOICE IN refers to the connection of
some external device to the voice card for recording voice signals. I have
found that a protable tape recorder works quite well for this purpose,
although any amplified recording source with a 5V p-p output should work
fine. Just be careful when inputting signals, there is no front end
protection on the A/D converter, so it can be damaged by overvoltage
inputs (20V p-p or higher).
