=============================

Tears of the Prophets is a completely new kind of electronic magazine.
Using the Windows Help System for a reader program, it provides hypertext
access to both the text and graphics of the hardcopy edition. More
importantly, it is filled with challenging and encouraging articles to
free you to live a fuller life of ministry and service to our Lord.

As I explained in Volume 1, I'm certainly not a prophet but certain things
need to be said to set people free to be all that God has called them to
be. Sadly, these subjects are usually "taboo" in most churches.

You may distribute TEARS freely to your friends and upload it to your
favorite BBS's (please include all files). Like God's gift of salvation,
TEARS is totally free. We will never ask for donations for, as the Apostle
Paul wrote, "...what I want is not your possessions but you..." 2 Cor 12:14.

Whether you agree with everything in TEARS or not, we would love to have
your comments. That's how we grow together!

If you don't know how to access a .HLP file then read on.
Otherwise, enjoy the magazine and we hope to hear from you.

GETTING STARTED
===============
For the best performance, copy the file TEARS-3E.HLP to your hard drive.
The magazine runs fine from a floppy but it is slower. There are several
ways to run Tears. If you use the Windows File Manager, change to the
directory where you copied the files to and double click on the file
TEARS-3E.HLP file. Normally Windows knows what to do but if it gives you
an error message "No application associated with this file" go to the
FILE-ASSOCIATE menu and associate WINHELP.EXE with HLP files.

Since you probably won't read Tears in one session, it is desirable to
set it up with it's own icon to provide quick and easy access. From the
Program Manager, click once on the group that you want to put it in. Then
go to FILE-NEW-ITEM and fill it in something like this depending on what
directory you copied the files to.

   Description:       TEARS-3
   Command Line:      WINHELP C:\TEARS\TEARS-3E.HLP
   Working Directory: C:\TEARS

If you want to set up Tears with it's own icon, I have included several
that you can replace the standard WINHELP question mark icon with. Click
the "Change Icon" button when setting up the icon. Then click the BROWSE
button and select one of the .ICO files that came with TEARS-3e.HLP. You
can also change the icon later by clicking on it and going to the
FILE-PROPERTIES menu and clicking the CHANGE ICON button there.

Tears was designed to run maximized in 640x480x16 color mode. If it doesn't
come up maximized, the text and pictures may not display correctly so click
the maximize button (the up-arrow in the upper right corner). You can view
Tears in 800x600 but the text will be small and you will need to adjust
WinHelp to use about 640x480 pixels of the screen so the text and graphics
will work together well.

GETTING AROUND IN TEARS
=======================
Once you are in Tears, you'll see that the names of the articles are in
green text. Just click on an article's name and you'll jump to it. In
fact, all green text are "hot spots" that you can click on for more
information. Blue text is scripture quotations... you can't click on
them... they click on you (grin). Use the scroll bars to move around
within articles. Clicking on the scroll bars' up and down arrows moves one
line at a time. Clicking on the scroll bars above or below the "elevator
button" moves by whole pages. You can also click and drag the elevator
button to move quickly through the article.

Be sure to try the SEARCH button. This is the magazine's index. For example,
all of the graphics are listed such as "Picture: Cross" to make them easier
to find. All scripture quotations are listed like "Ref: John 3:16".

The CONTENTS button jumps back to the title page and the << and >> buttons
jump from one article to the next. The BACK button jumps you back to
where you were before your last jump.

You can also set "bookmarks" using the top menu bar so you can come back to
a given spot later on.

Miscellaneous Technical Stuff
=============================
  The only things Tears requires are included in standard Windows setups.
    * Windows 3.1 (or later)
    * The Windows Help Program WINHELP.EXE
    * MS SANS SERIF and ARIAL fonts (True Type fonts must be enabled)

As best as I can tell, the program is virtually bullet-proof but if
you have trouble getting started please give us a call.
