Domain Entertainment announced on December 25 that it's much awaited Domain
DataLink would be available for purchase on January 1, 1995. Domain DataLink
is Domain Entertainment's entry in a new market of BBS programs that enable
users to play modem type games as well as engage in private user to user
file transfers.

Originally Domain DataLink had been slated for release in late November but
unspecified delays had moved the release date back a month. Unlike other "DOOM"
type servers, Domain DataLink has several distinct advantages. It is not
program specific so you don't need to buy additional support for other modem
games as they are released, there is no additional hardware needed to run it,
it may be run on a network, or on a single machine, and it's purchase price
allows it to be run on any number of system nodes. In addition, Domain DataLink
is not BBS specific and may be run on any system that is capable of using either
XTRN.DAT, CHAIN.TXT, DOOR.SYS, DORINFO#.DEF, SFDOORS.DAT, or PCBOARD.SYS drop
file.

The only limitation of Domain DataLink is the fact that it can only link
two (2) users at any one time, although realistically speaking, linking any
more than two users will usually slow a modem-to-modem game to the point of
unplayability for many players' tastes.

Domain DataLink will be offered to registered Synchronet BBS SysOps for an
initial price of $104.95, while non-Synchronet SysOp's can purchase it for
$124.95. Advanced purchases may be made online by calling the Domain
Entertainment Support BBS at (714) 521-9439. Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover
cards are all accepted. If you'd like to pay with check or money order, you
can FREQ the order form via Fidonet at 1:103/516 (filename: ORDER.FRM).
