StopWATCH is extremely easy to use. If you've ever used a
stopwatch, you already know how to use StopWATCH. What makes
StopWATCH different than an ordinary stopwatch is the ability to
add a note to each event logged.

          GETTING STARTED

The easiest method to load StopWATCH onto your hard disk is to
use the INSTALL.EXE program supplied. This program will create
a separate directory for StopWATCH and copy all of the files to
that directory. The install program WILL NOT alter any of your
          files (ie: AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS).

To run StopWATCH, change to the newly created directory and type
SW at the DOS prompt. StopWATCH will automatically detect if you
have a Microsoft (R) mouse available.

Two switches can be set when starting StopWATCH:

/S activates the sound feature. A beep will sound when any of the
buttons are pressed. To activate this feature type SW /S at the
          DOS prompt to start StopWATCH.

/X deactivates the mouse detection scheme used. This switch should
not be required, but it is available in case you run into problems
with the mouse driver you are using. You would type SW /X at the
DOS prompt to utilize this feature.

If you wish to utilize both switches, you will type: SW /X/S at the
          DOS prompt.

          USING StopWATCH

StopWATCH uses the internal clock in your computer. The date is
shown at the upper left of the screen and the current time at the
upper right. Make sure that these times are set correctly before
you start timing events. Use the F5 key to set the date and the
F6 to set the time. StopWATCH only allows you to set the date and
time if the stopwatch is not currently timing events.

CAUTION: If you start the timing, leave the StopWATCH program and
you or another program changes the date or time, your event times
          will not be properly recorded.

          HELP

Press the F1 key to display a help screen which describes the use
          of StopWATCH.

                                   page - 1 -

          START

To begin timing, press the F2 key. Also for your convenience,
pressing the Enter key will also start the timing. If you have
a Microsoft (R) mouse, simply locate the cursor over the START
button and press the left mouse button. Pressing the right
mouse button is the same as pressing the Enter key and will also
start the timing. In all, there are 4 different ways you can
use to start the timing, its up to you which is most convenient.

          LAP

To record an event time after the stopwatch has been started,
press the F3 key (lap time). Again, pressing the enter key, the
right mouse button or locating the mouse cursor over the LAP
button and pressing the left mouse button, will all activate the
event lap time. StopWATCH allows 750 events to be recorded.

          STOP

To stop the timer, press the F4 key. You will notice that the
START button changed to the STOP button after the timer was
started. If you are using a mouse, locate the cursor over the
STOP button and press the left mouse button.

          SAVE / RESET

If you wish to save the event log, press the F10 key or locate
the mouse cursor over the SAVE / RESET button and press the left
mouse button. A dialog box will appear asking for the file name
you wish to give to your event log. Enter any DOS recognizable
file name and press enter. You may save the file as a standard
text file (used by word processors) or a tab delimitated file
          (used by spreadsheets).

If you simply want to RESET the stopwatch without saving the event
log, press the Esc key when you are asked for a filename. The
stopwatch must be stopped before it can be reset.

After the filename was entered or by-passed, you are given a
choice whether or not you want to RESET the stopwatch. Press the
Y key or the Enter key to RESET the timer. Press the N key NOT to
          RESET the timer.

          NOTES

You may enter a note adjacent to each event logged. Use the arrow
keys, page up or down keys to scroll the display. If you are using
a mouse, use the scroll bar to locate the screen which has the
note you wish to enter or edit. Move the mouse cursor over the
note location you wish to add or edit and press the left mouse
          button to select that note.

                                   page - 2 -

Notes can be up to 32 characters long. You can type-over or insert
characters by selecting the Insert key. You can use the right or
left arrow keys to select the letter you wish to edit.

          PRINTING

You may print the event log, even while the timer is running.
Information is sent to your printer in standard text format, that
way, any printer will recognize the output. The printout will be
all of the event information seen on the screen. Press the F8
          key to begin printing.

          ALARM

Press the F7 key to enter an alarm time. A dialog box will appear
which shows the current time (or the alarm time if previously set).
Use the arrow keys to locate the number(s) you wish to change.
The alarm time must be set in "military" time (ie: 20:00:00 for
8 pm). Use colons : to separate hours, minutes and seconds.

Press the Enter key when you have entered the alarm time you
want. If you entered the number in correctly, the F7: Alarm
button at the bottom of the screen will change to red, indicating
that an alarm has been set.

The alarm feature only works as long as you remain in the
StopWATCH program. If you exit the program, the alarm time you
          set will be lost.

When the alarm activates, a series of beeps will sound and a
message box will appear on the screen. Press any key to stop
          the alarm.

The alarm feature is especially useful if you are recording events
which have a fairly long interval between them. Setting the alarm
to a time shortly before the next event is to take place allows
you to go about other things and be notified just prior to the
          next event.

          QUIT (EXITING THE PROGRAM)

Press the Esc key to immediately exit the program. If the
stopwatch is currently timing an event, the information the
program needs will automatically be saved to your disk. That
information will be read in the next time StopWATCH is run. That
way, StopWATCH is able to keep a continuous event log, even if you
exit the program to run a different program (or shut the computer
          off).

CAUTION: Do not turn the computer off while you are still in
The StopWATCH program. You must first Quit StopWATCH so the
information it needs will be saved.
