                     Beneith the twilight red the wild goose goes
                   In its Autumn trip to the south;
                 And below, the October trees
               Let fall dead leaves,
             Standing naked and
           Ready
             For Winter's call;
               And, high above the frosty
                 Ground, the squawking goose
                   Formation, with direct determination,
                     Goes toward the south and new mild green days.

                     Yet, the question comes: why does not one
                   Goose from feathery formation drop
                 Down to earth, in solitude to
               Eat and drink and swim

           Alone?
             Perhaps he fears
               The scorn of the others

                     Of being caught at the first flake of snow?
