AntiVirus Lab, SYMANTEC/Peter Norton Product Group
May 1, 1994
******************************************************************
Thank you for downloading this, the seventh consecutive virus
definition update for the Norton AntiVirus version 3.0. The
contents of this ZIP file will bring your NAV up to date as of
May, 1994. It is all-inclusive--you do not need any of
the previous update files. This text file describes the
contents of the ZIP file, the installation procedure, and
describes in detail what's new in this update.

All contents of this file have been scanned by Norton AntiVirus
and are free from virus infection. The virus definition and
repair data included with 30A07 are for use by Norton AntiVirus
version 3.0 only, they will not work with any other anti-virus
software or any earlier version of NAV. If you experience any
trouble with this update, please contact NAV technical support,
using any of the methods listed in your user's manual.
******************************************************************
30A07.ZIP-contains:

VIRSCAN.DAT-this is the actual data used to detect
and repair viruses. Not merely an update, this is a
replacement for the entire existing definition set.

    VIRSCAN.INF-provides the database of information
used by the [Info] section of Norton AntiVirus.
It is kept separate from the VIRSCAN.DAT file as it
may not always be necessary to update.

30A07.TXT-the file you are now reading, this text
file contains descriptions of the components of
    30A07.ZIP, instructions for installation and
    revision notes.

Note: The files contained in this zip file, referred to as a virus
definition update set, completely replace the corresponding
files contained within the product. Only the latest virus
definition set is required to update the product.

******************************************************************
NAV 3.0 has greatly simplified the definition update process.
There are now only two steps to updating your copy of Norton
AntiVirus.

    1. Copy VIRSCAN.DAT and VIRSCAN.INF into the Norton
       AntiVirus directory.

    2. Scan with NAV, in either DOS or Windows.

NOTES:

If you have unzipped this file inside your \NAV directory, (\NDW
for users of Norton Desktop for Windows), then you have already
completed the first step. If you unzipped the three files into
another directory, or are viewing this, still ZIPped (by using
a ZIP management program) then copy the extracted files to your
NAV directory. You want to overwrite the existing, old, data
files, in case you are asked.

Then, in either DOS or Windows, activate NAV and scan any
drive, directory or file. This will generate new interim
files, and update NAVTSR.

Exiting NAV (and Windows) and rebooting your computer to load
the new NAVTSR completes the process. You are now operating
with the latest anti-virus protection.
