ISSUE

     Enabling Disk Compression

     1. From the C:\ prompt, type SETUP to run the SETUP
          utility.

NOTE: After Novell DOS 7 is installed, the SETUP
utility, which is nearly identical to the INSTALL
utility, is used to reconfigure DOS.

     2. You should now be at the main SETUP menu. You will
notice it is the same as the INSTALL menu, with three
new options, for Disk Compression, Data Protection and
          Security, and Networking.

          Choose Disk Compression.

     3. You have the option to reboot the computer, without
loading memory resident software. If you have
third-party TSRs loaded, they may cause conflicts with
the Stacker disk compression as the drive is first
being compressed; therefore, you should reboot your
computer. If you do not have any third-party TSRs
loaded you don't need to reboot the computer.

          Choose Continue.

     4. A list of available DOS drives is presented. Select
the drive that you want to compress.

     5. You are presented with two disk compression options to
compress the entire drive or compress only the free
space. Stacking the entire drive will compress
everything on the disk, as well as new data that is
saved to the disk. Compressing only the free space
tells Stacker not to compress any data currently on the

drive but to only compress new data as it is saved to
          the disk.

     6. You will be warned that you should first make a backup
of your data. Novell always recommends having a
current backup of all data on your hard disk. When you
          are ready, choose Begin Stacking.

DISKOPT will be run on our hard disk to optimize and
          verify data.

     7. After Stacking is complete, choose Restart Operating
          System.
