This document represents official notification of the ALR Evlolution IVe 4/66d platform for VINES systems.


A.	Certification Statement

Banyan Systems certifies the ALR Evolution IVe 4/66d  compatible with VINES 5.53(0) and VINES 5.54(0).  It is important that all VINES systems which utilize the ALR Evolution IVe 4/66d hardware adhere to the following configuration guidelines in order to receive proper support.


B.	ICA Test
 
	The Two ICA test was run with 12 MB of System Memory.  Base Memory can not be set to 
	512KB to load a single ICA card at 80000h.  The ECU does not support the Blocking of system 	Memory between 15MB and 16MB in order to load ICA cards in upper Memory.

 System - Evolution IV/e System Board


 The Evolution IV/e System board provides on board one asynchronous communication port, one parallel port and up to 256 megabytes of memory.  It also provides on board hard disk and floppy controllers which support up to 2 Embedded AT hard drives, and up to 2 floppy drives.  Both controllers can be disabled by the Setup program or the EISA configuration utility.

 The ICAplus has three resources to configure:  The Interrupt Level, the I/O
 Address, and the Memory Address.  The Interrupt Level and the I/O Address are
 Jumper Selectable, and the Memory Address is Programmable via the Operating
 System.  The ICAplus will not operate in an 8 bit slot. It requires a
 non-cached 128 Kbyte memory address block.
